Love vs. Infatuation

1. Usually takes root slowly and it always grows with time.

2. Brings with it a feeling of security. You are warm with a sense of her nearness, even when she is far away. Miles do not really separate you. You want her near you but, near or far, you know she’s yours and you can wait.

3. When you’re in love you’re just the opposite. You can be sensible about your diet. You study or work harder because you want to excel for the loved one, and you’re sweet to everybody because you’re happy and sure.

4. When you love there is always a deep concern for the welfare of the loved one. Outside criticism does not dull your attachment-it sharpens it. Misfortune which may take away his “hero” status is of no consequence to you.

5. When you’re in love, though you would prefer to marry at once, you know that you can wait. You are sure of one another. You can plan your future with complete confidence.

6. Sex is also a natural and spontaneous part of love; but only a part. If your love is real, you will enjoy a sweet comrade ship with the loved one. You can have fun together without necking. You like each other. You are friends as well as lovers.

7. When you’re in love, although your personalities may be quite different, there is a willingness to hear the other side; to give as well as take; to compromise.

8. Love understands that she may enjoy another dance, another laugh, without reflection up on the relationship between you. You and she belong. All others are outside.

9. Love leads you up. It makes you look up. It makes you think up. It makes you a better person than you were before.

3. When you're infatuated, you often lose your appetite. You "Just don't want food." You can't concentrate. You can't study. You can't keep your mind on your work. You're probably short-tempered and rather unpleasant with the family.

4. Infatuation actually stems from a desire for self-gratification. The young man is often a "hero" or a handsome and popular person in your crowd. Or may be a brilliant student. You wish to be identified with him. You want your friends to see that he has chosen you for his girl.

5. Infatuation brings the feeling that you must get married right away. You can't wait. You mustn't take the chance of loosing her.

6. Infatuation is largely a matter of sex. If you are honest, you will discover that it may be a little difficult to enjoy each other unless you are leading up to a bit of necking.

7. Infatuated couples usually find it easy to disagree.

8. Infatuation frequently brings with it the inability to trust her. When she's away you wonder whether she really had to study or work or go to band practice. You're jealous when she laughs and dances with another handsome guy. You wonder how much you can believe that what she has told you.

9. You may "fall" into infatuation, but you will never "fall" in love. Infatuation might possibly lead you to do things of which you will not ordinarily approve; things for which you will be sorry; but love never will.
